John Ballerino is a Continuing Lecturer in the Department of Music at the University of California, Santa Barbara, specializing in Vocal Coach, Accompanist, and Collaborative Arts. He teaches Spanish Diction and Operatic Literature. Fluent in Spanish, he focuses on Spanish and Latin American music performance and pedagogy.
Education: Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Collaborative Arts from the University of Southern California, with studies in Spanish and Latin American literature. His mentors included Gwendolyn Koldofsky, Brooks Smith, and others.
Research interests include vocal repertoire interpretation, Zarzuela productions, and cross-cultural musical collaboration. He has worked with renowned artists like Plácido Domingo and institutions such as the Los Angeles Opera and Florentine Opera. Awards include multiple fellowships and scholarships for his chamber music and accompaniment excellence.
