Dr John Ballam is a Lecturer at the University of Oxford, where he has taught English Literature and Creative Writing since 2004. He serves as Course Director of the Undergraduate Diploma in Creative Writing, a role he has held since 2008.
- PhD in English Literature from the University of Bristol
- Author of literary works spanning poetry, plays, screenplays, and novels, including the memoir The Road to Harmony (1999; 2nd ed. 2013)
- Active in script consulting for film agencies in Hollywood, London, and Mumbai
His research interests focus on nineteenth- and twentieth-century British and American literature, while his teaching expertise includes modern period literature and creative writing across genres. Contact details include:
