John Aylward is an Associate Professor in the Visual and Performing Arts Department at Clark University. His work bridges music composition, poetry, and cultural studies, reflecting influences from literature (Sartre, Calvino, Rilke) and his upbringing in the Sonoran Desert. He is a recipient of prestigious awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship and commissions from the Fromm Foundation and Library of Congress. His compositions, such as Tiergarten, explore themes of identity, nature, and human relationships through innovative instrumental combinations.
