John Anthony Hardy

John Anthony Hardy is a Professor of Neuroscience at the Department of Neurodegenerative Diseases, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, UK, and Head of the Department of Molecular Neuroscience since 2012. He has held leadership roles in academia, including Chair of Molecular Biology of Neurological Disease since 2018, and has contributed extensively to genetic research in neurodegenerative diseases.

Research Interests: Hardy specializes in the genetic analysis of neurodegenerative diseases. He led the discovery of the first APP mutation in Alzheimer's disease, MAPT mutation in Pick's disease, and SNCA triplication in Parkinson's disease. His recent work focuses on genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and whole-genome expression analyses to interpret disease mechanisms, alongside investigating patient-derived stem cells for disease modeling.
