John Anetor

John Anetor serves as a Lecturer at the University of Ibadan, where he acted as Primary Instructor for the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program during the second semester of the 2018-2019 academic term. He led a laboratory-based course focused on phage discovery using Microbacterium foliorum as the bacterial host, instructing 25 freshmen in microbiology techniques.

His research centers on microbiology and phage genomics, with strong emphasis on evolutionary science and bacterial genetics. He actively participates in national science education initiatives that integrate authentic genomic research into undergraduate curricula through hands-on phage isolation and characterization projects.

During the 2018-2019 term, Anetor conducted a structured three-hour weekly course meeting three times weekly, guiding students through the complete phage discovery pipeline from sample collection to preliminary characterization. His work supports the SEA program's mission to advance genomic literacy through student-driven research.
