Patricia Fallest-Strobl

Patricia Fallest-Strobl is a Lecturer at Neumann University and an Additional Instructor for the HHMI Science Education Alliance-Phage Hunters Advancing Genomics and Evolutionary Science (SEA-PHAGES) program, co-teaching Phage Discovery and Bioinformatics courses since Fall 2018.

Her research focuses on bacteriophage isolation and genomic analysis, with extensive work using bacterial hosts including Microbacterium foliorum, Arthrobacter globiformis, and Gordonia rubripertincta. She specializes in integrating wet-lab microbiology with computational genomics for undergraduate research training.

Dr. Fallest-Strobl has instructed six course sections (2018-2023) with 52 total students, employing hybrid formats combining 1-6 weekly contact hours with asynchronous components. Her courses emphasize authentic research experiences in phage characterization and genome annotation.

As an active SEA-PHAGES network member, she participates in national workshops and symposia, contributing to collaborative phage genomics education initiatives.
