John Alexander Davison is an Associate Professor of Plant Ecology at the Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Tartu, Estonia. He has been affiliated with the University of Tartu since 2008, progressing from Research Fellow to his current position as Associate Professor since 2021. His academic journey began with undergraduate studies at the University of East Anglia (1995-1999), followed by doctoral research at the University of Sussex completed in 2007.
Davison's research focuses on plant ecology, particularly plant-mycorrhizal interactions, soil microbiomes, and biodiversity patterns. His work spans multiple scales from local grassland ecosystems to global biodiversity patterns. He has published extensively in top-tier journals including Nature, Nature Reviews Biodiversity, and Ecology Letters, with recent work examining mycorrhizal networks, plant-soil interactions, and biodiversity responses to environmental change.
