Lord John Alderdice is a Senior Research Fellow at Harris Manchester College and a Visiting Research Fellow at St Benet’s Hall, both at the University of Oxford. He serves as Director of the Centre for the Resolution of Intractable Conflict and holds affiliations with the Department of Politics and International Relations and the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography. A psychiatrist by training, Alderdice played a pivotal role in Northern Ireland’s peace process, including negotiating the 1998 Good Friday Agreement and serving as the first Speaker of the Northern Ireland Assembly. He is a life member of the UK House of Lords, contributing to committees on defense and international relations. His academic work focuses on conflict resolution, terrorism psychology, and intergroup relations.
