John Acorn is a Faculty Service Officer in the Department of Renewable Resources at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences. He is renowned for his work in entomology, science communication, and natural history documentation. Acorn has authored numerous field guides and popular science books, including Damselflies of Alberta, and hosts the TV series Acorn, the Nature Nut. He has held roles as a research associate at the Royal Tyrrell Museum and the E.H. Strickland Entomology Museum.
Research Interests: Entomology, biodiversity conservation, environmental interpretation, and science communication. His work bridges academic research and public engagement, emphasizing insect ecology and natural history education.
