John A. Sweeney is a Lecturer at the University of Houston's Department of Human Development and Consumer Sciences. He holds a PhD in Political Science with a focus on Alternative Futures from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, supervised by Jim Dator.
His expertise lies in Futures Studies, emphasizing sustainable policymaking, participatory foresight, and transformative approaches. He has conducted on-ground work in 45 countries across five continents and collaborates online globally.
Dr. Sweeney co-founded the Participatory Futures Global Swarm and Superfluid Futures, and serves as Transformative Foresight Lead for the School of International Futures. He currently resides in Kusadasi, Turkey.
