John A. Collins

John A. Collins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the College of Life Sciences. His research focuses on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of musculoskeletal aging and degenerative diseases, particularly intervertebral disc degeneration and osteoarthritis.

His work explores how mitochondrial dysfunction (e.g., OPA1 deficiency), epigenetic regulators (e.g., Sirt6), and pharmacologic interventions (e.g., celecoxib, muMab911) affect age-related tissue degradation and bone remodeling. Current projects investigate metabolic pathways, senescence, and therapeutic strategies for osteoarthritis and fracture repair.
