Johannes Staudt

Johannes Staudt, Dipl.-Ing., is a Research and Teaching Fellow at the Chair of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Design and Building (Prof. Lang) within the Technical University of Munich. Since 2021 he has combined academic research with teaching responsibilities at TUM, focusing on holistic sustainability assessment and advanced design methodologies for the built environment.

Research Focus

Staudt’s research integrates rigorous life-cycle assessment with architectural design, aiming to embed sustainability criteria from the earliest conceptual stages. His work embraces time-based design strategies that anticipate future use-phase changes, emphasising adaptability, flexibility and polyvalency of building systems. Prefabrication techniques and their role in urban systems & mobility form another cornerstone of his investigations.

Publications Trend

Between 2022 and 2024 Staudt co-authored six peer-reviewed articles that collectively advance computational methods for sustainable architecture. These papers move from comparative simulation–machine-learning frameworks to holistic decision-making methodologies, all anchored in real-world case studies and early-stage design support.

Teaching & Academic Service

During the winter term 2025/26 he serves as assistant lecturer for the seminar “Urban Systems” alongside Prof. Lang and colleagues, guiding students through integrative design exercises.

He is an active member of the Oskar von Miller Forum and collaborates within the interdisciplinary research environment fostered by the Chair of Energy Efficient and Sustainable Design and Building.
