Johannes Levin

Prof. Dr. Johannes Levin serves as Deputy Head of Clinical Research at the Munich site of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) and leads a dedicated research group. Concurrently, he holds a W2 Professorship in Clinical Neurodegeneration at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU Munich), anchoring his academic affiliation within one of Europe's leading medical research institutions.

His research centers on neurodegenerative disease mechanisms using precisely characterized patient cohorts. Key focus areas include autosomal dominant Alzheimer's disease (via the DIAN consortium), Alzheimer's in Down syndrome populations, genetic/sporadic frontotemporal dementia, and movement disorders like multiple system atrophy and corticobasal syndrome. The research program emphasizes clinical phenotyping, diagnostic/dynamic biomarker discovery, and therapeutic trial design to accelerate treatment development for these conditions.
