Johannes Kasinger is an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Tilburg School of Economics and Management (TiSEM), Tilburg University. He holds a PhD in Economics from Goethe University Frankfurt, an M.Sc. in Quantitative Economics from the same institution, an M.Sc. in Economics from the Stockholm School of Economics, and a Bachelor's in Finance from the University of Zurich. His research focuses on policy-relevant questions at the intersection of industrial organization, behavioral economics, public economics, and quantitative marketing, with a central emphasis on individual information processing and choice under uncertainty.
Key research areas include rational inattention, pricing strategies, consumer behavior, and urban mobility policies. Collaborations span institutions globally, including studies on e-scooter safety in European cities and shrinkflation practices in U.S. retail markets. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to sustainable cities and communities, as well as responsible consumption and production.
Recent projects highlight his expertise in analyzing consumer decision-making under uncertainty, such as skewness preferences in online poker, and the societal impacts of emerging transportation technologies.
