Johannes Castner serves as Senior Lecturer in Behavioural Sciences at Kingston Business School, Department of Management, Kingston University, and is affiliated with the Behavioural Research Analytics In Neurotechnological Systems (BRAINS) Lab. His career spans the Boston Federal Reserve Bank research department and eBay as Senior Data Scientist, grounded in economics, data science, and AI.

His research integrates Behavioural Sciences with Computational Social Science through Experimental Economics, Game Theory, and Machine Learning, applying ethical frameworks from Amartya Sen and Shoshana Zuboff to technology development. He emphasizes ethics as the crown jewel of intelligence in experimental design and neurotechnological systems.
As an educator, he co-designed Columbia University's graduate complexity science course and recently recorded an advanced AI/ML digital course. He will teach a behavioural science module covering experimental methods, AI, and ethical challenges, utilizing the BRAINS Lab's immersive tools.
The BRAINS Lab employs VR glasses, emotive sensors, haptics, eye tracking, iMotive software, and programming environments (Python, R, NetLogo, z-tree) for cross-disciplinary experiments with UX designers and behavioural scientists.
