Johanna Warwick is an Associate Professor of Photography at Louisiana State University (LSU), affiliated with the College of Art & Design's Art/Photography department. She holds a BFA from Ryerson University (Toronto, Canada) and an MFA from Massachusetts College of Art & Design (Boston). Her research explores themes of loss, history, and the environment through photography, focusing on systemic inequities and urban planning impacts.
Key projects include The Yellow Book’s Road (2018–current), documenting the societal consequences of U.S. interstate highways, and Monuments to Strangers, exhibited at MIT and Klompching Gallery. She teaches courses such as Advanced Photography and Graduate Photography, emphasizing social media integration and large-format techniques.
Warwick has received a Massachusetts Cultural Council Fellowship and exhibited widely. Her work critically examines infrastructure’s role in racial segregation and urban decay, aligning with contemporary debates on systemic racism and urban renewal.
