Dr. Johanna Walker is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Informatics at King’s College London, affiliated with the Institute for Artificial Intelligence. She specializes in generative AI, data governance, and public-private sector collaboration. Her work bridges technical innovation with societal impact, including projects funded by Horizon Europe and the EUHubs4Data initiative.
Walker holds a PhD from the EPSRC Web Science Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Southampton. Before academia, she worked in e-commerce and entrepreneurship, contributing to ventures such as AOL and UK government open data initiatives.
Her research focuses on data literacy, ethical AI, and citizen engagement in data-driven programs. Notable projects include the podcast musical 'Destination Hallucination,' which educates non-academic audiences about generative AI risks and best practices.
With 30+ publications, Walker has contributed to journals like Data Policy and conferences such as AIES and CHIEA. She leads workshops on data literacy and collaborates with organizations like the Alan Turing Institute and the Big Data Value Association.
