Johanna Ranta is a University Lecturer in Welfare Sciences at Tampere University's Faculty of Social Sciences. She specializes in social work and harm reduction practices for people using drugs, homelessness, and qualitative research methods. Her research focuses on institutional encounters, accessibility of services, and the Housing First model. She holds an ORCID profile (https://orcid.org/0000-0003-2064-3110) and has authored over 50 publications.
Key projects include 'Anonymous encounters on the dark web and street-based harm reduction services' (2021–2025) funded by Kone Foundation and studies on homelessness and urban displacement (e.g., SEGRA project).
