Johanna Döring

Professor Johanna Döring serves as Professor of Organic Viticulture at Hochschule Geisenheim University in Germany, where she leads research in sustainable viticultural practices within the Department of Viticulture. Her work focuses on comparative studies of integrated, organic, and biodynamic viticulture systems, particularly through the long-term INBIODYN field trial.

Her research interests span Organic Viticulture, Biodynamic Viticulture, Sustainable Agriculture, Climate Change Adaptation, and Vineyard Soil Management. Professor Döring has published extensively on how different viticultural management systems affect soil health, biodiversity, vine physiology, and wine quality. Her work demonstrates that organic and biodynamic practices can enhance ecosystem services while maintaining economic viability in vineyards.

Analysis of Professor Döring's recent publications reveals a strong focus on sustainability metrics in viticulture, with particular emphasis on life cycle assessments, soil microbial communities, and climate resilience. She currently leads significant research projects including AGROFORESTRY IN VITICULTURE TO INCREASE ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY AND REGIONAL VALUE CHAINS (2024-2027) and HEALTHY VINES (VITIS VINIFERA) IN ORGANIC VITICULTURE BY MEANS OF RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND TRANSFER (2019-2025), also known as VITIFIT, which addresses the critical challenge of downy mildew control in organic viticulture.
