Johan Frishammar is a Professor in Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Luleå University of Technology (LTU), where he serves as the educational leader for the Master of Science in Industrial Economics program and program manager for the Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Management. He is affiliated with the Department of Economics, Technology, Arts and Society, specifically within the Industrial Economics department.
Professor Frishammar holds a bachelor's and master's degree in business administration, a licentiate degree in industrial organization, and a doctorate in industrial organization. His academic credentials reflect his deep expertise in business and innovation management.
His research primarily focuses on innovation, technology development, and strategy in established companies and organizations. He is ranked among the most productive (top 1%) researchers in Sweden within 'business and management' by Research.com. Current research projects address sustainable transition, circular business models, innovation measurement, digital platforms, alliances, and innovation in MedTech. His work is highly applied and conducted in collaboration with industry partners including Getinge, Ericsson, Scania, Volvo, BillerudKorsnäs, ABB, and others.
Professor Frishammar has published over 100 scientific articles, book chapters, and conference papers in leading journals. His recent publications (2024-2025) demonstrate a strong focus on sustainability alliances, circular economy business models, and digital health platforms, reflecting his commitment to addressing contemporary business challenges through rigorous academic research.
