Dr. Joerg Henning is an Associate Professor in Veterinary Epidemiology at the School of Veterinary Science, University of Queensland. He also holds an Adjunct Professor position at the School of Agriculture and Environmental Science, University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ). With over 15 years of experience in epidemiology and biostatistics, his work focuses on international animal health, particularly in developing countries like Myanmar, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
His research spans:
- Zoonotic diseases (e.g., Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza H5N1)
- Infectious disease management in poultry and domestic animals
- Farmer attitudes and behaviors in small-scale livestock systems
- Wildlife conservation (koalas, citizen science)
- Snake envenomation studies in domestic animals.
Dr. Henning has served as an operational scientist for international organizations (FAO, World Bank, ILRI) and led administrative roles at UQ, including Director of Students and Admissions. His teaching includes Veterinary Epidemiology at the tertiary level.
