معرفی
Joel Tripp is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Neuroscience at Carleton College, where he has taught since 2024. His courses include Foundations in Neuroscience, Neurons Circuits and Behavior, Hormones Brain and Behavior, and Directed Research in Neuroscience across multiple academic terms through Spring 2026.
His educational background includes:
- PhD from University of Georgia
- Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Biology from Concordia College-Moorhead (2010)
- Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Cornell University
Dr. Tripp's research investigates neural integration of social and hormonal cues in behavioral decision-making, using Alston's singing mouse and plainfin midshipman fish models. His work employs behavioral, viral, molecular, and genomic approaches to study social signaling and alternative mating behaviors, with emphasis on how energetic states and social contexts modulate neural activity.
His primary scientific recognition is:
- NIH Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Postdoctoral Fellowship
He mentors undergraduate researchers through NEUR 394 Directed Research courses, providing hands-on neuroscience laboratory experience. His prior postdoctoral training at UT Austin was supported by NIH fellowship funding.
Dr. Tripp has conducted research in the Bass Lab at Cornell University and the Phelps Lab at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on neurobiological mechanisms of social communication.
