معرفی
Dr. Joel Klinck is an Associate Professor of Biology at Redeemer University, specializing in aquatic toxicology and physiology. He holds a Ph.D. (2012) from McMaster University and a B.Sc. (2004) from Wilfrid Laurier University. His research focuses on contaminant effects in freshwater organisms, particularly mussels, and their physiological responses to pharmaceuticals and heavy metals. Klinck has collaborated with government agencies to develop non-destructive genotoxicity assays for mussels.
- Education: Ph.D. Biology (McMaster), B.Sc. Hons Biology (Wilfrid Laurier)
- Teaching: Courses include Toxicology, Genetics, Developmental Biology, and Invertebrate Zoology
His work bridges toxicology and physiology, examining mechanisms of contaminant uptake and sublethal effects. Key projects include studying Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) impacts on freshwater mussels and cadmium/calcium transport in rainbow trout.
- Funding: MOECC grant (2015-2016), NSERC Postgraduate Scholarship (2008-2011)
Recent publications address mussel bioaccumulation of PPCPs and cadmium transport pathways in fish. His lab develops innovative methods for ecological toxicity assessment.
