معرفی
Joel Goodman is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. He joined the faculty in 1982 and has contributed extensively to research on peroxisome biogenesis, lipid droplet assembly, and protein translocation. His doctoral work at the University of California San Diego (B.A., 1971) focused on biology, followed by postdoctoral training at UCLA. Key research areas include the identification of peroxisomal sorting signals, lipid droplet protein interactions, and the role of seipin in metabolic disorders.
Education:
- B.A. in Biology, UC San Diego, 1971
- PhD in Pharmacology, University of California San Diego, 1980
- Postdoctoral Training, UCLA, 1980–1982
Research Interests:
- Mechanisms of peroxisome assembly and division
- Lipid droplet formation and morphology regulation
- Role of lipodystrophy proteins in metabolic pathways
Scientific Contributions include cloning the bacterial leader peptidase, discovering peroxisomal membrane sorting signals, and elucidating seipin’s role in lipid droplet dynamics.
Outside academia, Goodman maintains an active interest in classical piano, performing with orchestras such as the Fort Worth Symphony.
