Joel Brugger

Joel Brugger is a Professor at Monash University’s School of Earth Atmosphere and Environment, holding the Synchrotron Geosciences Chair since 2014. He obtained his PhD from the University of Basel, Switzerland in 1996, focusing on metamorphosed syn-genetic exhalative Mn deposits. His research group, Minerals, Microbes and Solutions, employs advanced experimental techniques to study metal transport, mineral-microbe-fluid interactions, and geochemical processes. Key contributions include work on copper-gold systems, carbon-neutral metal extraction, and rare earth element dynamics.
