Joe Fleming is an Associate Professor at Coventry University, specializing in sensors, embedded systems, and smart energy storage. He holds an M.Sc. in Electronic Engineering from De Montfort University (2012) and a Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Warwick (2018). His research focuses on advancing energy storage technologies through embedded electronics and sensors, particularly in improving thermal management and safety validation via in-situ measurements. He has pioneered novel optical and thermistor-based sensors for cylindrical and pouch cells, revealing critical temperature gradients and safety insights during charge/discharge cycles.
