Jody Thomas

Dr. Jody Thomas is an Assistant Professor in the Social Work Department at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. He holds a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from Capella University, a Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of South Carolina, and a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from UNC Pembroke. His expertise includes Historical Trauma, Injury and Violence Prevention, and Mental Health Awareness among Native American populations. He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 15 years of experience in mental health services, training, and community engagement.

Research Interests: His dissertation focused on Native American tribe member perceptions of community violence, employing an appreciative inquiry approach. Future research priorities include historical trauma, community development, and addressing violence in tribal contexts.
