Jody Crane

Jody Crane is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Tennessee's Physician Executive MBA (PEMBA) program and serves as Chief Medical Officer at TeamHealth. He is a board-certified Emergency Physician and a leading expert in Emergency Department (ED) operations and Lean Healthcare methodologies. His roles include Chief Clinical Operations Officer at Sheridan Healthcare, Senior Medical Director at Stafford Hospital, and Associate Regional Medical Director at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group.

Education: Medical College of Virginia (M.D.), University of Tennessee (M.B.A.).

Research interests focus on optimizing healthcare operations through Lean principles, ED staffing and flow, telemedicine, and acute care services. He has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Educator of the Year (UT, 2011, 2013, 2015) and Honorable Mention for ACEP’s Speaker of the Year (2016).

He advises the National Institute for Health Research and teaches at institutions like Harvard, Cambridge University, and the American College of Emergency Physicians’ ED Directors’ Academy. His global impact includes working with EDs across six continents to improve healthcare delivery systems.
