Dr. Jodie Davies-Thompson is a Lecturer in Psychology at Swansea University, affiliated with the School of Psychology within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. Her research focuses on visual processing, neural plasticity, and face recognition deficits, particularly in conditions like prosopagnosia. She employs advanced neuroimaging techniques such as fMRI, DTI, and MVPA to study brain organization and rehabilitation strategies.
Dr. Davies-Thompson’s work spans three core areas: multisensory integration of faces and voices, perceptual learning for prosopagnosia rehabilitation, and cross-modal plasticity in sensory-impaired populations. She is actively involved in supervising postgraduate research and teaches modules on neuroimaging analysis and experimental design.
Her recent publications highlight advancements in understanding developmental and acquired face-processing disorders, leveraging machine learning and behavioral interventions. Collaborations include projects on deafness and blindness-related plasticity, funded by grants such as the 'Cross-modal plasticity in congenital and acquired deaf individuals' (2015).
Dr. Davies-Thompson holds a strong academic background, with postdoctoral positions at the University of Nottingham, University of Trento, and University of British Columbia. She is committed to advancing cognitive neuroscience through interdisciplinary approaches and is an active contributor to the Face Research Swansea (FaReS) group.
