Professor Jodie Copley is a Professor and Head of Occupational Therapy at the University of Queensland's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and a PhD from the University of Queensland. Her research focuses on upper limb neurorehabilitation, clinical reasoning, and interprofessional education, with an emphasis on improving patient outcomes through evidence-based practices. She leads projects on clinical decision-making tools, such as the Hypertonicity Intervention Planning Model, and has contributed to frameworks for practice education like the PLUS Framework.
Her work spans diverse areas, including pediatric occupational therapy, fetal alcohol spectrum disorder support, and cultural responsiveness in healthcare. She has authored over 100 journal articles, book chapters, and books, and has secured grants for initiatives such as the CP-KASP program and interprofessional simulation training. Professor Copley is actively involved in supervising doctoral and master’s students, mentoring new graduates, and advancing clinical education through innovative teaching methodologies.
Key achievements include developing the Student Practice Evaluation Form (SPEF-R2) and fostering interprofessional collaboration through initiatives like the VOTIS video assessment tool. Her research addresses gaps in clinical practice, caregiver support, and healthcare mentorship, with a focus on translating evidence into practical solutions for clinicians and patients.
