Jodi Schorb is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at the University of Florida. Her research examines intersections of print culture, self-making, and carceral systems in early American history. She explores prisoner literacy, gender representation in execution narratives, and the development of prison literature.
Schorb's research focuses on historical and contemporary debates around punishment reform, inmate education, and public sphere engagement by incarcerated individuals. She co-developed UF's Carceral Studies Library Guide and teaches courses on prison literature, slave narratives, and carceral theory.
Her publications analyze the evolution of American crime fiction, captivity narratives, and the role of literacy in penal reform. Recent work investigates manuscript culture within carceral institutions and the materiality of prison writing.

Schorb actively advises graduate students and serves on graduate committees for the Center for Humanities and the Public Sphere.
