معرفی
Prof. Jochen Hub is a Full Professor of Theoretical Biophysics at Saarland University's Physics Department. He leads research in computational biophysics, focusing on membrane biology, protein dynamics, and drug discovery. Previously, he held group leadership roles at Georg-August-University Göttingen (2012–2018) under DFG programs and conducted postdoctoral research at Uppsala University and the Max Planck Institute.
Education: Physics studies at University of Stuttgart (1998–2004), followed by postdoctoral training at MPI for Biophysical Chemistry (2008–2011). Notable fellowships include the Heisenberg (2017–) and Emmy Noether (2012–2017) awards.
Research interests span molecular dynamics simulations, membrane pore formation, protein-lipid interactions, and antiviral drug mechanisms. Recent work explores hydration shell dynamics, ligand discovery algorithms, and viral membrane fusion. Awards include the 2015 Biophysical Society Paper of the Year and multiple teaching excellence awards.
- Grants: Marie Curie Fellowship (2009–2011), DFG Emmy Noether (2012–2017)
- Labs: Saarland University Theoretical Physics Lab, Collaborative Center for Biophysics
- PhD advisees include Leonhard, Robert, Jeremy, and others
His team develops tools like MemGen and WAXSiS for lipid membrane simulations. Current projects include studying cholesterol effects on membrane permeability and viral entry mechanisms.
