Jocelyn Mitchell-Williams, MD, PhD, FACOG is an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). She oversees medical education programs, curricular development, and simulation-based training. Previously, she founded CMSRU’s Diversity and Community Affairs office, leading initiatives to address health disparities in underserved communities.
Dr. Mitchell-Williams holds a BS in Electrical Engineering and PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Rutgers University, followed by an MD from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology was completed at Cooper University Hospital.
Her research focuses on dismantling systemic bias, advancing health equity, and improving cultural competency in medical education. Notable work includes interventions to reduce racial disparities in vaccination rates and preterm birth outcomes. She has secured grants for diversity programs and delivered talks on implicit bias and LGBTQ+ health advocacy.
Recipient of the AAMC Spencer Foreman Award and NAACP Crystal Award, she also serves on boards for Camden Coalition for Healthcare Providers and Volunteers of America, Delaware Valley. Her leadership in medical education reform and community service has earned national recognition.
