Faith Young, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Medicine and Core Faculty at the Edward D. Viner Center for Humanism at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU). She joined Cooper University Health Care in 2016 and holds Board Certifications in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, and Hospice & Palliative Medicine. Her clinical focus includes care for patients with poor-prognosis cancers, high symptom burdens, and substance use disorders with complex pain syndromes. She also serves in the Cooper Center for Healing’s Addiction Medicine program.
Dr. Young’s educational background includes a medical degree from Harvard Medical School, residency at Tufts-New England Medical Center, and fellowships in Hematology/Oncology and research in genetics/molecular immunology. She previously directed the Cellular Therapy and Apheresis service at the University of Rochester, leading an NIH-funded lab studying B-cell development.
Her teaching focuses on communication skills and humanism in medicine through CMSRU’s Center for Humanism. She trains medical students and junior physicians in challenging conversations, conflict resolution, grief management, error recovery, and patient spirituality. She is certified in Vital Talk’s experiential learning program and actively contributes to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives at CMSRU.
Her career spans translational research, clinical oncology, and palliative care, balancing scientific rigor with patient-centered communication. She remains affiliated with Cooper University Health Care and CMSRU while advocating for compassionate, inclusive healthcare practices.
