Joaquim Palet

Joaquim Palet is a professional hornist and educator specializing in natural horn and historical performance practices. He serves as 1st Solo Hornist at the Staatstheater Oldenburg since 2004 and holds a teaching appointment at the Hannover University of Music, Theater and Media since 2019, focusing on horn and natural horn instruction. He also teaches horn and chamber music at the Oldenburg Music School since 2015.

• Education: Diplom in Horn Performance from the Leipzig University of Music and Theatre (2000–2004), and Pädagogisches Diplom from the Munich University of Music and Theatre (1996–2000).

His expertise centers on historical performance practices for brass instruments, including the exploration of Baroque and Renaissance repertoire. He co-developed the LipCam System—a mouthpiece with an internal camera to visualize horn embouchure during play (patented since 2014). He actively performs with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen as a substitute musician and is a founding member of the German Horn Ensemble.

Teaching focuses include natural horn techniques and historical interpretation methods, guiding students through period-appropriate articulation, ornamentation, and instrument experimentation. He collaborates with early music specialists on consort and chamber music projects.
