Dr. Joanne Tanner is a Lecturer in Chemical and Biological Engineering at Monash University, serving as Director of the Monash Membrane Pilot Plant and SAMPLE Spaces. With industry experience in process control and pilot-scale design, her PhD focused on high-temperature reaction engineering. Tanner's research bridges sustainable processing and engineering education.
Her research develops biorefinery processes for sustainable fuel/chemical production and waste biomass utilization. She pioneers experiential learning frameworks to enhance systems thinking in engineering curricula, particularly through the Monash Innovation Labs infrastructure.
