Joanne Dickson is a Professor of Psychology and Mental Health at Edith Cowan University (ECU), affiliated with the School of Arts and Humanities and the Centre for Precision Health (CPH). She holds a PhD from the University of London and has held academic roles at Russell Group universities in the UK before joining ECU in 2016. Her research focuses on mental wellbeing, psychological processes in mental health difficulties (e.g., depression, anxiety), and interventions to improve emotional regulation and quality of life. She leads the Systematic Profiling in Neurological Conditions (SPIN) program, developing the SAVOUR intervention for neurological patients.

Research Interests:
Her work explores goal regulation, motivation, and emotional processes in mental health. Recent projects include suicide prevention, chronic pain management, and the impact of dietary habits on stress and wellbeing. She collaborates internationally and has supervised over 40 postgraduate students.
