Joanna Woronkowicz is an Associate Professor at the Paul H. O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University. Her research focuses on cultural economics, arts administration, and nonprofit management, with expertise in econometric analysis and policy evaluation. She co-founded the Center for Cultural Affairs and co-directs the Arts, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Lab.

Her work examines labor dynamics in creative industries, the economic impact of arts infrastructure, and intersections between cultural policy and urban development. Recent publications analyze arts degrees' career value, freelance artist motivations, and nonprofit organizational behavior.
She has received the IU Outstanding Junior Faculty Award (2019), Trustee's Teaching Award (2016), and participated in the Fulbright Specialist Program (2019). Her forthcoming book, Artists at Work: Rethinking Policy for Artistic Careers (2025), extends her research on artistic labor markets.
