Joanna Moncrieff is Professor of Critical and Social Psychiatry at the Department of Epidemiology & Applied Clinical Research, University College London. Her work focuses on psychiatric drug treatment analysis, history, and critique of pharmaceutical evidence.

Recent publications analyze antidepressant withdrawal, antipsychotic discontinuation, outcome measurement in trials, and the social model of mental health. She co-authored the RADAR trial on antipsychotic reduction and developed the Discriminatory Antidepressant Withdrawal Symptoms Scale (DAWSS).
She authored two influential books:
