Joanna Cohen, PhD, MHSc, is the Bloomberg Professor of Disease Prevention and Chair of the Department of Health, Behavior and Society at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She directs the Institute for Global Tobacco Control and has led tobacco policy research for over 30 years, focusing on tobacco control, public health policy, and policy evaluation. Her work examines tobacco industry strategies, health communication, and behavioral interventions to reduce tobacco use.
- Education: PhD in Health Policy (University of North Carolina, 1999), MHSc in Community Health (University of Toronto, 1992)
Research Trends: Her recent work includes studies on electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS), tobacco pricing, warning labels, flavor chemicals, and global policy implementation. Key collaborations span the U.S., Vietnam, Mexico, and Bangladesh.
