Joana Silva is an Associate Professor with Tenure at CATÓLICA-LISBON School of Business & Economics (Universidade Católica Portuguesa) since 2019. She serves as Deputy Chief Economist for Human Development at the World Bank (2024–present) and is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Her work spans labor economics, international trade, poverty and inequality, entrepreneurship, and policy evaluation, with publications in top-tier journals like the American Economic Review and Journal of International Economics.
