Joana Seguin

Dr. Joana Seguin is a Researcher at the Institute of Earth System Sciences within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Leibniz University Hannover. She previously completed her doctorate at Christian-Albrechts-Universität Kiel in 2020.

Research Interests focus on human-environment relationships, geomorphology, and paleoenvironmental reconstruction. Her work integrates landscape ecology, water and soil-related ecosystem services, and climate-society interactions.

Publications highlight her expertise in ecosystem services assessments and paleoclimatology, with recent work on pan-European sustainability frameworks and 5000-year climate records in Greece.

Projects include participation in the SELINA initiative (2022–2027) for evidence-based natural capital decisions, and earlier work in the CRC 1266 "Scales of Transformation" at Kiel University.

Professional Activities encompass membership in the Heidelberg Geographical Society and the Geomorphology Working Group. She serves on the Admissions Board for M.Sc. Landscape Sciences and represents scientific staff at LUH.
