Joan Richardson is a Distinguished Professor at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, holding appointments in English, Comparative Literature, Liberal Studies, and American Studies. Since joining the faculty in 1987, she has established herself as a leading authority on American literature, particularly Wallace Stevens and pragmatism, with research spanning colonial period to 20th-century modernism.
