Joan P. Ball, Ph.D., is a Professor of Marketing at the Peter J. Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University, and founder of the WOMB Service Design Lab. Her research focuses on service design, transitional learning, and navigating systemic change through curiosity-driven inquiry and experiential learning. She holds a Ph.D. in International Business Management (International School of Management), an M.S. in Organizational Leadership (Nyack College), and a B.A. in Economics (SUNY Albany).
Her work bridges academia and practice, addressing how individuals and organizations adapt to disruption. Key areas include customer delight theory, liminality in transitions, and human-centered design applications. Notable achievements include a finalist award for her 2022 book Stop, Ask, Explore and recognition for the WOMB Lab’s contributions to responsible innovation.
