Joan M Senent Sanchez

Joan M Senent Sanchez is an Associate Professor in the Department of Comparative Education at the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences, University of Valencia. She is a member of the GRECIA Comparative Education research group and holds a PhD from the same university, awarded in 1993 for her thesis on the training of social educators in Francophone and Mediterranean European countries.

Her research centers on comparative education, teacher training, and educational inclusion, with a focus on Latin America, Spain, and Europe. She explores themes such as teacher induction, equity in bilingual and rural contexts, social education, and academic stress in higher education. Her work often adopts a comparative and policy-oriented lens.

The most recent publications highlight a strong focus on teacher professionalization, particularly in Latin America, and interventions in university student well-being. She also investigates the evolution of social education in Spain and Portugal, curriculum design in teacher education, and educational equity through UNESCO-related projects like the Cátedra UNESCO-UV.
