Professor Joan Taylor specializes in Christian Origins and Second Temple Judaism at King's College London. Her multidisciplinary work examines early Christian texts through historical, archaeological and literary lenses, focusing on figures like Jesus, Mary Magdalene, and the Essenes. She received the Irene Levi-Sala Prize (1995) for archaeological research.
As General Editor of the Arden Shakespeare series, she bridges textual studies and reception history. Current book projects examine the Essenes-Dead Sea Scrolls connection and Philo's De Vita Contemplativa.
She directs the London Shakespeare Centre and serves on editorial boards for Shakespeare Survey and the International Shakespeare Association.
