Professor Joan Condell is a leading academic at Ulster University, holding the title of Professor of Intelligent Technologies in the School of Computing, Engineering and Intelligent Systems. Her work spans imaging, digital technologies, and wearable systems with applications in security, energy, and healthcare.
- Education: BSc in Mathematics, Statistics and Computing (Ulster), MSc in Industrial Mathematics (University of Strathclyde), PhD in Mathematics and Theoretical Computing (Ulster).
- Leadership: Senior Fellow of the Centre for Higher Education Research and Practice, Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and Core Member of the Computer Science Research Institute.
Research Focus: Digital intelligent technologies, imaging, wearables, and commercialisation of academic innovation. She has founded spinout companies and secured over £56M in grants, including EU FP7 funding and current European projects totaling €22.5M.
