Joachim Wuermeling

Prof. Dr. Joachim Wuermeling is a Professor at ESMT Berlin and an attorney at A&O Shearman in Frankfurt. He previously served as a member of the Deutsche Bundesbank’s Executive Board, where his responsibilities included banking supervision, IT, data, and organizational governance. He was also part of the ECB’s Single Supervisory Mechanism Supervisory Board, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, and the German Financial Stability Board.

• Education: Holds degrees from the University of Bayreuth and the European University Institute in Florence.
• Prior roles include Member of the European Parliament, German State Secretary for Economics and Technology, and leadership positions in the German Insurance Association and Sparda-Banken Association.
