Joachim Mnich is a Professor of Physics at Universität Hamburg and holds leadership roles in DESY and CERN. He has served as Lead Scientist at DESY since 2005, heading the CMS group and coordinating the EUDET project. From 2009-2020, he was Director for Particle and Astroparticle Physics at DESY. Since 2021, he serves as Director for Research and Computing at CERN.

- Studies in Electrical Engineering and Physics at RWTH Aachen (1977-1984)
Research Focus: Elementary particle properties, detector development for high-energy physics, physics analysis at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), and preparation of future electron-positron linear colliders. His work bridges experimental particle physics with advanced detector technologies and international collaborations.
