Joachim Metz

Joachim Metz serves as Professor and Dean of Studies at the Technical University of Central Hesse within the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Materials Technology. His research concentrates on:

• Materials and manufacturing technology of non-metallic materials
• Analysis of non-metallic and metallic materials
• Composite materials development
• Quality management systems
• Materials chemistry and interface analysis
• Advanced characterization techniques including spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction

Prof. Metz teaches foundational and specialized courses including Materials and Manufacturing Technology 1-3, Methods of Material and Interface Analysis, Materials Chemistry, Composite Materials, Advanced Materials Engineering, and Non-metallic Materials (Ceramics, Glass, and Powder Technology). He oversees the Laboratory for Non-metallic Materials where practical instruction occurs, particularly for StepInM laboratory modules in density measurement and spectroscopy.

As Dean of Studies, he conducts hybrid consultation hours (in-person/online) during academic semesters, with scheduled appointments extending into Summer Semester 2025. Recent notices indicate adaptive scheduling for August 2025, including online-only sessions and alternative appointment dates when regular hours are canceled.
